Cisco, Qualcomm invest in Apalya Technologies
Localization drive may extend to investments in software companies
The localization drive in India may not mean meraly setting up factories. It could mean directly investing more in software companies or integrating a local solution onto an MNC technology platform.
Cisco, under pressure to localize in India, has made an investment in Apalya Tecnologies Pvt Ltd., a local player in video streaming.
This investment was done along with another MNC, Qualcomm, as also IDG Ventures India and Indo US Venture Partners
Cisco has also added live TV and mobile video capabilities to its Cisco Videoscape architecture by integrating the Video Delivery Platform of Apalya.
"To demonstrate Cisco's commitment to delivering best-of-breed solutions to multi-system operators (MSOs) in India, who operate multiple cable or direct-broadcast satellite television systems, Cisco has also made an investment in Apalya", says a Cisco press release.
