Talking to BWA auction winners
Israel-based Runcom Technologies has tied up with a local firm, Liberty Group, to offer WiMax mobile broadband solutions in India. The joint venture has been named Sunfest Runcom Technologies.
Company officials are talking to firms who won Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) spectrum at the auction earlier this year, like Reliance Industries, Qualcomm, Aircel and Bharti Airtel.
The joint venture will offer end-to-end WiMax solutions that could be upgraded to Long Term Evolution (LTE). It has invested Rs.300 million to set up a plant in Bawal, Haryana, to manufacture base stations, customer premises equipment, both indoor and outdoor, and USB products for mobile and fixed 4G networks, according to CEO Adesh Gupta. Capacity is 2000 base stations per month and 10000 CPE/USB products per month.
Rumcom Technologies pioneered OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access) and NLOS (Non Line Of Sight) technology, and its products have been approved by WiMax Forum and leading operators. It has developed silicon products, fixed and mobile terminals, base stations, ASN gateways and Network Operating Centres, besides value added services.
