Ericsson trials LTE TDD in India

First data from Gurgaon, using the 2.3GHz band


Ericsson has announced that it has conducted what it claims are the first trials of Long Term Evolution Time Division Duplex (LTE TDD) in India.

The vendor has revealed it made a data call at its experience centre in Gurgaon, using the 2.3GHz band.

Ericsson has also said that it now plans to conduct further trials of the technology using services such as high definition TV and videoconferencing.

Head of Ericsson India, Gowton Achaibar, said of the development: "The objective of the LTE trial is to showcase the potency of the network capability to industry players such as mobile operators, application developers, content providers and game developers, to help them create breakthrough products and services for the Indian market"
