Will partner only 3G spectrum winners
Qualcomm Inc. says it is looking to partner with one or more local players to offer broadband wireless internet services in India after it won four areas in the hotly contested broadband bandwidth auction in India.
The company is keen on partnering only with winners of the recently completed radio bandwidth auction for 3G mobile telephony services, Qualcomm India and South Asia President Kanwalinder Singh told reporters at a news conference.
He added that Qualcomm will announce its partners in a month.
Qualcomm will also offer partners a stake of about 26% in the venture, as per India's investment regulations, Singh said.
Earlier Friday, Qualcomm said it provisionally won one slot of spectrum in the Delhi, Mumbai, Haryana and Kerala service areas for Rs49.12 billion ($1.05 billion).
