Five firms bid for BSNL WiMax franchise

28-11-2009

These include biggies like Cisco, Alvarion and ZTE

Five companies bid to be franchisees for BSNL's WiMAX project covering urban areas. These had obscure names: Adishwar India, Ampoules, Teracom Limited, E-mall Infotech and Tech solutions Ltd

However, according to a TelecomTiger report, ZTE is partnering E-Mall and Tech Solutions for the contract. Cisco has submitted its bid through Teracom while Alvarion is partnering Adishwar and Ampouls. Thus it's the big boys all right, indirectly tendering, that's all !

BSNL's new guidelines for the franchisee model stipulate that bidding companies should have a minimum turnover of Rs 100 crore (Rs1 billion).
