A tectonic boost for telecom equipment

will see the emergence of four or five big private local firms in carrier networking, wireless and video. Funding details:

SDN a big opportunity for India
The move to software-defined networking has spread to the telecom sector ("network function virtualisation"). The payoff from this move could be that off-the-shelf hardware could eventually run telecom routers, switches and servers.
That's a big deal for India which is struggling to get its hardware sector off the ground, but has a thriving and innovative software sector. Already many small startups are onto this trend.
